- Malaysia is Australia’s eleventh-largest trading partner and third-largest trading partner in two-way goods and services trade;
- In the twelve months to February 2010 the total merchandise trade between Western Australia and Malaysia was $2.07 billion with exports of $.69 billion and imports of $1.38 billion;
- In 2009 Malaysia become Western Australia’s 13th largest market for goods exports;
- Malaysia is Western Australia’s third most important Tourist Market, with 19,100 visitors from Malaysia during November 2009 bringing the total for the eleven months to November 2009 to 186,900, an increase of 25 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year; and
- Australia is a major provider of education services to Malaysia.
