Julie started her career in corporate communications and government relations. After a decade working for companies such as Rio Tinto, not-for profits and local government, Julie was lured to a career in law. For the past 15 years, Julie has been advising employers on how to manage and deal with employee and workplace issues.

Julie started as in-house counsel for member-based workplace advisory group Raykon, advising employers on workplace and employee issues.

In 2014, Julie joined Capital Legal as a solicitor and director, and built a thriving workplace relations and commercial litigation practice. 

In 2023, Julie established Resolve Legal Solutions to provide accessible, in house style legal advice to employers across a broad range of industries, including energy and resources, building and construction, not for profit and community and social services. 

Julie is a nationally accredited mediator with NMAS and applies the facilitative tools of mediation to workplace disputes.

On behalf of her clients, Julie:

  • conducts workplace investigations (including regularly travelling to site);
  • advises on organisational restructures and transfer of business obligations;
  • audits and advises on compliance with workplace laws and industrial instruments;
  • manages the enterprise agreement bargaining process;
  • delivers training on how to manage employee and workplace issues;
  • advises on legislative changes that impact employers;
  • advises on work, health and safety matters;
  • drafts materials such as; employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, polices and procedures and Deeds of Settlement;
  • supports employers to manage day to day issues such as employee performance and misconduct;  and
  • provides negotiation and mediation services to resolve workplace disputes.

Julie regularly represents clients in the Fair Work Commission, the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, District Court of Western Australia, and the Federal Court. She has assisted in the Federal Court case of Fair Work Ombudsman v Pocomwell Ltd (2013) FCA 250 and the Fair Work Ombudsman v Quest South Perth Holdings Pty Ltd & Others No. 2 2013 FCA  which was a significant case about sham contracting. 

Julie is passionate about helping clients to resolve legal issues and bring about change with practical and cost effective solutions.

Away from work, Julie loves spending time on Rottnest Island and enjoying the great outdoors.
